VILLAGES IN KWABHACA AND EMAXESIBENI TO WELCOME THREE COMMUNITY HALLS.
KwaBhaca – Umzimvubu Local Municipality has completed the construction of three (3) community
halls in KwaBhaca and EmaXesibeni. These facilities are part of the Municipality’s commitment to
promote social cohesion and integration among other things.
The Municipality has since invested an amount of R2.7 million towards each facility with more than 100
local people enjoying employment. These facilities were constructed in the following villages during this
Financial Year (2022/2023); Saphukanduku, Ntshakeni and Badibanise.
“The improvement of access to quality infrastructure is a sensible approach to provide hope to our
residents. This assures our communities that government is committed to the cause and will continue
to provide clear opportunities for social integration. Amidst the high-unemployment rate within
Umzimvubu, the construction of these facilities has made a difference to a few young people that have
since been absorbed by the contractor”, said Umzimvubu Mayor, Cllr Zukiswa Ndevu.
Saphukanduku Community resident, Mr Price Maxhabiso Guqa, said, “As a community, we are
pleased with the construction of this community hall. Previously, we had to outsource tents and rent out
classrooms for our gatherings but since the completion of this facility, our meetings have regained
dignity. However, it now falls upon us as a community to safeguard this infrastructure against any form
of vandalism and theft”, concluded Guqa.
These facilities are yet to be handed over to the community and the public will be advised on the
specifics of the handover programme in their respective wards.
