UMZIMVUBU PREPARES TO INTRODUCE AN INCENTIVE SCHEME FOR RATEPAYERS POST COVID-19

In an effort to mitigate the economic impact of the Global COVID-19 Pandemic, Umzimvubu Local
Municipality prepares to introduce an incentive scheme for local ratepayers. This initiative is part of
the economic recovery programme aimed at supporting the revitalization of small medium and
macro businesses within the Municipality.

During the extensive ratepayer’s engagement session held at EmaXesibeni on the 21st September
2022, the Municipal leadership and Senior Management led by the Office of the Speaker, presented
the concept to all affected parties. This was followed by the proposed land disposal policy which
was later welcomed by all stakeholders.

“Our overall objective is to create an environment that is responsive to the needs and wants of our
communities. We want to set a precedence that allows communities to relentlessly engage us on
matters pertaining economic activity in our area amongst other things. This incentive programme
reflects our commitment to foster better working relations with our stakeholders”, alluded Cllr
Ngqasa.

The Municipality is yet to have another conclusive ratepayer’s engagement session in KwaBhaca to
finalise the implementation of the proposed initiative.
