UMZIMVUBU MUNICIPAL COUNCIL APPROVES THE MID-TERM BUDGET ADJUSTMENT FOR
THE 2022/2023 FINANCIAL YEAR.
KwaBhaca – Umzimvubu Mayor, Cllr Zukiswa Ndevu, has tabled the 2022/23 budget adjustment
during an ordinary council meeting, held on the 28th February 2023 in KwaBhaca. The item was
tabled in terms of section 28(2) of the Municipal Finance Management Act (Act 56 of 2003).
Section 28 of the MFMA requires that an adjustment budget be tabled to full council after the Mid- year Budget and Performance Assessment, and this must be done no later than the 28th February
2023. The approval of the budget adjustment is conducted in line with the Municipality’s Service
Delivery and Budget Implementation Plan (SDBIP), which contains key service delivery projects
and programs that ought to be implemented during the course of the financial year.
“We are governed by laws and pieces of legislation that guide our day-to-day operations without
any attempt to deviate from the founding principles of our constitution. It is for this reason that we
converged this afternoon as this council to table and approve the mid-year budget adjustment in
accordance with the MFMA”, said Cllr Zukiswa Ndevu.
“The principle of sound financial management is very crucial in ensuring that the Municipality
remains viable and sustainable, as we continue to provide quality services across Umzimvubu
Local Municipality. I believe that we have good systems in place to monitor our expenditure patterns
which will enable us to achieve more significant milestones in the near future”, added the Mayor.
As today marks the last month of the 3rd quarter in the current financial year, Umzimvubu Local
Municipality is expected to complete and handover a number of service delivery related projects
that were due for this current financial year. More detail will be communicated in due course.
