UMZIMVUBU LOCAL MUNICIPALITY WELCOMES AN UNQUALIFIED AUDIT OPINION FROM THE AUDITOR GENERAL SA.
The Auditor General (AG) has given Umzimvubu Local Municipality an unqualified audit opinion with
findings, noting that the Municipality is in a solvent position and able to meet its financial obligations.
AG has also found that despite the myriad challenges facing the municipality, Umzimvubu remains
able to continue delivering basic services to its residents, a retained outcome from the previous
financial year.
Umzimvubu Mayor, Cllr Zukiswa Ndevu has welcomed the findings, saying that since taking over the
reins in the Municipality, her administration has ensured a budgetary process focus on the urgent
needs of indigent communities, through investment in infrastructure, provision of free basic services
and the growth of the local economy.
“We will continue in our concerted efforts to manage our cash flow and generate cash backed
surpluses to fund future capital expenditure.” Ndevu explains.
The audit opinion was signed off by the auditor general and received by the Municipality earlier today.
