UMZIMVUBU LOCAL MUNICIPALITY MOURNS THE PASSING OF FORMER MAYOR JOE MUNYU
Umzimvubu Local Municipality is saddened by the untimely death of the former Mayor, Joe Munyu who passed away earlier today.
“The late honourable Munyu was the 1st Mayor of Umzimvubu Local Municipality under the new democratic South Africa post 1994. During his term in Council, he worked tirelessly to ensure that all residents had equal access to employment opportunities. He will be remembered for his valiant and transparent leadership. The passing of this leader comes at a time when our country is in mourning.” said Umzimvubu Mayor, Cllr Sobane Mnukwa.
“On behalf of Umzimvubu, please allow me to extend my sincere condolences to the Munyu family. I pray that they too shall be granted strength to overcome this great loss” concluded Cllr Mnukwa.
The family is yet to make an official announcement on the burial arrangement. This will also be shared through our communication platforms for all interested residents to pay homage to the fallen leader.
