UMZIMVUBU CLOSE MUNICIPAL OFFICES AFTER 4 EMPLOYEES TEST POSITIVE FOR COVID-19

As the global pandemic continues to soar through the vulnerable areas in the district, Umzimvubu Local Municipality has registered 4 more infections since the municipality announced on its first COVID-19 related case.

The municipal employees that tested positive have been isolated and are receiving treatment in their respective quarantine sites.

In light of the above mentioned, municipal offices will close with effect from the 29th June 2020 (Monday) until further notice. The municipality will use this period to disinfect and to ensure that the municipal offices are ready to resume public operations. The public will be notified with the reopening date of offices in due course.

“We value the lives of our employees and the public. The closing of municipal offices is a temporal arrangement that seeks to protect the lives of all local residents. With that said, our employees will work from home until further notice” said Umzimvubu Municipal Manager, Mr Tobela Nota.

The municipality wishes the infected employees a speedy recovery and pleads with all local residents to remain safe and adhere to lockdown regulations. Your health is in your hands.
