LIGHTS ON FOR MORE THAN 500 HOUSEHOLDS IN KWABHACA.

In aid of delivering quality and sustainable services to the broader community of Umzimvubu, the
Municipality has electrified more than 500 households in five (5) previously disadvantaged villages in
KwaBhaca. The multimillion project that began in November 2020 created more than 30 job
opportunities for local residents.

“This project is a culmination of the government’s mandate to provide quality services to the
community. We have overcome a few challenges towards the completion of the project however,
today we witness a new dawn for our people. This is just one of many commitments as this
Municipality as we continue the plight of our people” said Umzimvubu Mayor, Cllr Zukiswa Ndevu.

A total number of 276 households under Sivumela Phase 2 was energised. This includes the following
villages: Zigadini, Maxhegweni, Machibini and Drayini Village. The contractor is in the process of
finalising a few complications in 80 households at Magontsini Village. A further 275 households was
electrified at Ntlabeni Location. The Municipality will provide a further update upon the completion of
the unprecedented complications at Magontsini Village.
