On the 10th of June 2017, Umzimvubu Local Municipality will be hosting the O.R Tambo Choral Music Festival at Alfred Nzo Townhall at 9:00am. The municipality seeks to celebrate the life and legacy of O.R Tambo ‘Unity in Action’ through choral voices that resonate his dedication to the youth of today.

As government we remain committed to eliminate poverty, youth unemployment and inequality by 2030 through the National Development Plan. With that said the choral music festival yearns to encourage an active environment for the youth residing within Umzimvubu Local Municipality while encouraging a participatory response to municipal initiatives.

According to Councillor B.P Mabengu,” South Africa is today a constitutional democracy founded on the principles of human dignity and equal rights for everyone because of OR Tambo’s leadership. We are building on his legacy to create a society envisaged in the Freedom Charter and Constitution. The choral music festival is the municipality’s way of encouraging unity within our homesteads while aiming to achieve a healthy competition in the name of OR Tambo.”
