Umzimvubu Local Municipality has been inundated with calls from local service providers regarding an email supposedly sent from the Municipal Manager’s email account requesting payment in return of municipal tenders. The municipality wishes to affirm the public that this is a scam conducted by unknown perpetrators using the municipal domain.

In light of the above mentioned, the municipality also wishes to state that Supply Chain Management Processes are followed in line with the Municipal Finance Management Act whereby under no illusion does it permit ‘payment for tender’.

The municipality also urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious correspondence, sent from the municipal managers email account to the nearest crime intelligence authority (SAPS) or Umzimvubu Local Municipality.

The Office of the Mayor condemns the fake email with the strongest contempt and wishes to distance itself from it. The Municipal Managers’ official email address is openly available on the municipal website at The Office of the Mayor condemns the fake email with the strongest contempt and wishes to distance itself from it.
