Umzimvubu Local Municipality once again prides itself in taking part at the International Tourism Indaba held in Durban from 09-11 May 2015. Taking place at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Convention Centre, formerly known as the Durban ICC, it is one of the largest tourism marketing events on the African Calendar which happens to be one of the three must visit events of its kind on the global calendar.

The event showcases the widest variety of Southern Africa’s best tourism product and attracts international buyers and media across the entire globe.

ULM, through its Local Economic Development Department showcased its local tourism and rich natural resources that contribute to the enhancement of its economic stance.

Exhibiting amongst international organisations, institutions and companies; ULM exhibited in the municipality category where municipalities around South Africa were also present. The Durban Exhibition Centre was buzzing with institutions in different exhibition categories including, unlimitedly the accommodation, tour operations, game lodges, transport, online travel, media publications, industry associations, municipalities, provincial offices such as Mpumalanga, Limpopo, as well as countries from the rest of the world such as Seychelles, Swaziland and Lesotho.

An interesting interactive session was held on Sunday, 10 May 2015 where the 6th municipal Tourism Brochure and DVD was launched in the presence of its municipal counterparts such as Ingquza Hill Local Municipality which the municipality has memoranda of understanding and partnership in driving the economic development goal and sharing best practices. ​
