Honourable Mayor Cllr B.P Mabengu hands over the 1,7 million Sonwabile Jojo Community Hall in Brooksneck.

On the 7th of July 2017, Umzimvubu Local Municipality Mayor, Cllr B.P Mabengu handed over the Sonwabile Jojo Community Hall to Brooksneck residents in Ward 1, EmaXesibeni. The R 1,7 million community hall was funded through the Municipal Infrastructure Grant (MIG) in aid of fostering basic service delivery as required by the Municipal Structures Act.

According to the Honourable Mayor, Cllr B.P Mabengu,” The municipality is pleased with the impressive work done by the municipal infrastructure department. This is only the beginning of new developments to come in this financial year. As the country commemorates the year of “OR Tambo: Unity in Action” we live through his values and maintain that Umzimvubu belongs to all those who live in it including its infrastructure.”

Speaking to community residents in the area, 26 year old Zoleka Mafuya said they use to convene meetings inside the local Methodist church and are now pleased with the new infrastructure in the area. The municipality further plans to develop more communities in the new financial year as per the integrated development plan while also advancing feasible models of quality service delivery into local communities.

Construction began on the 11th of October 2016 and was completed on the 15th of June 2017.​​
