As part of back to School Campaign, on 10 March 2016 was not an ordinary day for the learners of Umzimvubu Local Municipality. Her Worship Cllr Khulukazi Phangwa, ULM Mayor and Alfred Nzo District Municipality Mayor her worship Cllr Eunice Diko handed over School uniform to needy students. Of which 250 leaners benefited School uniforms from both schools which were Mt Frere’s Bethlehem S.P.S and Mt Ayliff’s Mombeni Junior Secondary School.

Both Municipalities spent about R237, 150.00 to purchase school uniforms that had been identified by Mt Frere District Department of Education. The aim was to assist students from poorest families.

Speaking to students at Mt Frere Bethlehem S.P.S her Worship Cllr Khulukazi Phangwa said that, “as the Government we are aware that our schools are characterised by students coming from poor families who are unable to buy school uniforms”. According to ULM Mayor her worship Cllr K.S Phangwa, “we have decided to intervene in order to uplift these leaners so that they can do better in their studies”.
